Kendrick Imports plans trip to Zimbabwe

Kendrick Imports is planning a trip to Zimbabwe in July / August this year to visit a potential supplier in Bulawayo and for a photo-shoot in Hwange Game Reserve – the true home of the Rogue products…the safari.

The journey will start in Hazyview, the home of the Rogue range of hats, boots, bags and accessories.  The Rogue gear will be a central part of the packing list for the trip with the Rogue Desert Boots (£70) being perfect for the game viewing and game walks in the Hwange Game Reserve, along with a Rogue hat to keep heads warm in the cool of the early morning drives but heat of the day (probably the Breezy options will be favoured) such us the great Rogue breezy canvas hat below – (£25) from Kendrick Imports.

Our destination on day one will be Bulawayo in the south western part of the country. It is the second largest city in Zimbabwe after the capital city, Harare and a a city rich in cultural history. It is one of the oldest and historically most important of Zimbabwe’s towns.

The town of Bulawayo is built on a grid system (rather like American blocks), with huge wide roads lined with trees and big spaces with parks and monuments on square areas.  The roads are wide because the original streets of Bulawayo were constructed so as to allow a team of sixteen oxen to make a full turn!  Along with the cosmopolitan feel to the town are a sprinkling of sky-scrapers and traffic lights!  We are planning to stay at the Bulawayo Club and as well as meetings with new contacts are planning a day to visit the Matopos Hills to see the burial place of Cecil Rhodes, the stunning rock formations, the San “Bushmen” paintings and the possible sightings of white Rhino that have been successfully reintroduced in to the park.

From Bulawayo we will travel to Hwange and stay at the Hide a described as a Safari Lodge with a difference, a comfortable, tented safari camp inside the majestic surroundings of the Hwange National Park –  a haven for wildlife and one of Africa’s premier game parks. The accommodation looks to be unique and interesting but we will let you know once we have first hand experience!  We hope to take some stunning photos of wildlife and Rogue hats, Rogue Boots and Rogue bags in the place they were designed for…. Africa and the Safari!!

The Hide accommodation

After two nights at the Hide we will be off on a short hop to Victoria Falls via The Wild Dog Research station .  We hope to spend a stunning three days at Victoria Falls and take in the sights, sounds and thrills of the Falls themselves.  Five years ago we visited Victoria Falls and were amazed at the determination and optimism of the people that lived and worked there – it will be a great privilege to see how the town and its people have fared over the past 5 years.  Watch this spce to find out!

The trip back to Hazyview will be via Bulawayo  and Beitbridge again and 2,500 km later we will be able to share our experiences and photos with you!

……watch this space…!!
